Kirin Company, Limited is an integrated beverages company. It is a subsidiary of Kirin Holdings Company, Limited. Its major operating units include Kirin Brewery Company, Limited, Mercian Corporation and Kirin Beverages Company, Limited. Kirin is a member of the Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group (MUFG).
9. BGI / Groupe Castel (France) – 3,880 million liters per year
Castel is the largest French wine producer and owns the biggest French and foreign wine brands distributed in France. Castel Group is also the French leader for table wines and the number four for beers and soft drinks in Africa (after SABMiller and Heineken and Guinness), and – after Constellation Brands and Gallo – number four for wine worldwide. Castel claims to have a 25 percent share of profits from the African beer market.
8. Yanjing (China) – 4,300 million liters per year
Beijing Yanjing Brewery is a brewing company founded in 1980 in Beijing, China. Yanjing Beer was designated as the official beer served at state banquets in the Great Hall of the People in February 1995.
7. Asahi (Japan) – 5,820 million liters per year
Asahi Group Holdings, Ltd. is a beer and soft drink company based in Tokyo, Japan. As of January 2014, Asahi, with a 38% market share, was the largest of the four major beer producers in Japan followed by Kirin Beer with 35% and Suntory with 15%.
6. Tsingtao Brewery Group (China) – 7,800 million liters per year
Tsingtao Brewery Co. Ltd. is China’s second largest brewery, with about 15% of domestic market share. It was founded in 1903 by German settlers in Qingdao, Shandong province. Its logo displays an image of Zhan Qiao, a pier on Qingdao’s southern shore.
5. Molson Coors (US / Canada) – 9,960 million liters per year
The Molson Coors Brewing Company is a multinational brewing company, formed in 2005 by the merger of Molson of Canada, and Coors of the United States.
4. Carlsberg (Denmark) – 11,340 million liters per year
Carlsberg is a global brewer. Founded in 1847 by J. C. Jacobsen, the company’s headquarters is located in Copenhagen, Denmark. Since Jacobsen’s death in 1887, the majority owner of the company has been the Carlsberg Foundation. The company’s flagship brand is Carlsberg (named after Jacobsen’s son Carl). It also brews Tuborg, Kronenbourg, Somersby cider, Russia’s best-selling beer Baltika, Belgian Grimbergen abbey beers, and more than 500 local beers.
